A warning light can point to many possible causes. A useful diagnostic process combines scan data with the vehicle’s symptoms and targeted checks before parts are recommended.
Tell us when the light appeared, whether it flashes, and what changed in the way the vehicle starts, idles, accelerates or shifts. If the light is flashing or the vehicle is running poorly, reduce driving and call the shop. Related work may include electrical service, spark plugs or engine repair.

Before the appointment
Record when the symptom happens, whether the engine is cold or warm, and any recent repair or battery work. Do not clear codes immediately before the visit because stored information can help with diagnosis.
During the inspection
Scan data is interpreted alongside operating tests and the reported symptom. The goal is to separate a sensor or control issue from ignition, fuel, mechanical or electrical faults before choosing a repair.
When to stop driving
A flashing light, severe shaking, overheating, smoke or active fluid loss deserves prompt attention. Stop safely and call the shop rather than continuing to test the vehicle.
