Depending on the findings, the plan may involve maintenance, transmission service, component repair or replacement. We explain the evidence and repair direction before work begins. Record when the fault appears
For shifting concerns, note gear, speed, temperature and throttle position. For engine concerns, record warning lights, temperature, smoke colour, noise and fluid loss. Recent service history can materially change the starting point.
Confirm the system before choosing the repair
Road behaviour, scan information, fluid condition and targeted tests help distinguish internal engine or transmission concerns from controls, ignition and electrical systems. A major replacement should not be the first assumption.
Protect the vehicle
Stop driving with overheating, severe knocking, a flashing warning light or rapid fluid loss. Safe towing can cost far less than additional damage caused by continuing.
